Founded by Patchogue resident, artist, and musician Jenn Woodason, The Dirty Show performed May 17 at The Rail.

"It's a very modest, hilarious burlesque style troupe of musicians and comedians and dancers and there is a lot of variation within the format," Woodason said. "The entirety of the show is flexible and comedy/improv skits. We also play our own live music. We're very funny, cheeky, lovable, classy, and it's not a predictable show by any stretch of the imagination."

A year ago, Woodason was working in an office and decided to make a change in her life and career.

"The Dirty Show is a concept I have been mulling over for years and have only started working throughout the course of this year," she said.

The show which runs from one to two hours depending on the venue and if other bands are performing is a compilation of dance, original songs, with some tracks recorded, Woodason explained of the music.

"I call myself a create-aholic because making things is what I do best and I do so continuously," she said.

Born and raised in New York, Woodason attended SUNY Purchase and studied design technology, which is backstage theater.

"I am limited in my own experience with performing because of so many years working in offices/behavioral health/being married and so have created this thing in a very organic and lucid fashion from research and trial and error. We built a good following from all of our friends and partners in the music and art scene."

Since The Dirty Show premiered the act has been offered a monthly show at the Rail, according to Woodason.

"We haven't officially announced other dates, but are in talks with several venues and will go all over Long Island this summer as part of our Summer of Lust Long Island World Tour. "

The Dirty Show performs next June 14 at 8 p.m. at Rams American Pub in Holbrook.

"We will be playing with Secret Ion as our partner band and will have performances by several other known local bands who are our friends before and after our show," Woodason said.

Without "spoiling" the fun, she said upcoming shows will feature "familiar characters" like "Mistress Dildora" and "Anita Jackoff," and new characters "no spoilers, and new dances and skits."

The evolving act will continue with the "same hilarity and sexiness that folks raved about after the show."

"It is certainly something Long Island needed," Woodason said.
